I'm gonna make me up a thumb plane from the scraps I made this cross from.. I made it for my Wife, The brass cross was from her daddy's casket.. MERRY CHRISTMAS Stay Safe Out There!!
Hope everyone had a great holiday! Ive been lazy these last couple weeks, looking forward to working on some stuff soon. I'm working through this guy right now, I think the zebrawood fingerboard might be too much. I have a flamed maple board slotted and ready to go but Im still up in arms about it. Finished my first ebony cavity cover, admittedly it took me a lot longer than id of liked but overall Im pretty satisfied so far!
billy bo made out of a piano stool and some pine thinline tele minus the f holes with a squier acoustic neck neck thru 12 string starcaster and something really ugly i might have to re glue the binding or scrape it all together
Grease, Very nice! I really like how that turned out. Saw your post on the other site also. From the ozone... Mark
Just starting. . . Very old sitka spruce. I picked this up around 1975 and it was well-seasoned then.
Swapped out metric plastic dots for 1/4" abalone on my mini player. Not too bad for my first go at it.
Hi all. Been a lurker here for a while and a member over on SS.O for several years. Anyway, just finished a shred machine for a buddy, will be building another soon, more to come!!! 7 string 27-25.5 24 SS frets neck through Wenge and Sapele neck African Mahogany wings Bastogne Walnut top and headstock cap Hipshot bridge and tuners custom set of pickups by Ethan Spaulding of Instrumental Pickups
That looks great, love the headstock. I finished my CNC build last night. Tonight I'll work on calibrating it and cutting stuff.
Slightly Spalted/figured Maple top mated to a Black Walnut (chambered) Tele body. Has been routed for standard tele pickups 25.5" scale. Last night I glued up a 3-piece Maple neck with a Flamed/Birdseye Fretboard. Dark Cherry Red Quilted Maple top mated to an Alder California Jr. Body. Routed for 25.5" scale. 3-Piece Sapele neck and a Goncalo Alves Fretboard (Brazilian Tigerwood). Guitar will more than likely be fitted with Bareknuckle Pickups of some sort. Full Alder California Full Metallic Flake basecoat and Nitro finish. Kent Armstrong hum cancelling P-90 bridge and vintage wound P-90 neck pickup 25.5"scale with 3-piece Sapele neck and a Jatoba fretboard with oak dots.
Finally, after a couple of years of procrastination (hey, I've got two young kids who play hockey and a FT job), my very first build is underway! It's going to be a replica of KK Downing's (Judas Priest) candy red Gibson V. Only differences will be an ebony board instead of rosewood, and abalone dots (maybe - I might go back to pearl). The body blank is slightly cupped, so had to cut the body offset a bit in order to minimize how much I have to work to get it perfectly flat. One corner was worse than the rest. Also have a nice slab of rough cut mahogany I'm using for at least one neck (hoping I can get two out of it, so I can do a Kirk Hammett replica). It's a bit warped as well, so spending a lot of time getting it nice and square with a table saw (I don't have a planer yet). Crossing my fingers I can get it done by summer. We'll see.
