I am totally perplexed. I am preparing a 30 year old Guild acoustic to fix cracks and scuffs prior to recoating it with Black Nitrocilius Lacquer and I can't for the love of me get rid of the sanding cratches on the old finish. I have wet sanded it with up to 10,000 grit sand paper and no matter what I do the scratches remain. Please if there is someone who can give me a thought on this please do so.

    Thanks Gary

Have tried Cymbal cleaner/polish? I have not tried it but Music Nomad makes one that I've seen other technicians use to take the scratches out of the underside of guitars necks. I am going to try it myself and I can report back on the results.
