Here's the most recent guitar nearing the finish line. More pics later, but it's pretty well nailed down:

Very nice. It has become my favorite fingerboard wood. Dark, hard, beautiful, and CHEAP. I bought a board from Bell Forest products and got 3x 4-string bass boards and 2x 6-string bass boards out of it. The board cost me $51, shipped.

Agreed. It's a nice ebony replacement wood. Fine-grained, dark (or light... or both  ), dense wood. I like it quite a bit :)

Is it ok to post photos of other instruments? I have yet to build my first guitar, but am working towards that goal. I've built Native American style flutes, hammered dulcimers, an autoharp and a hurdy Gurdy, among other things. I'm in the process of building some mountain dulcimers right now.

You made a hurdy gurdy? Now there's an instrument I haven't seen for a long time. Definitely post pics of other instruments, for sure =D

It's not a fancy hurdy Gurdy at all. I made it from a set of Musicmaker's blueprints. Photo shows the hurdy with only one melody string in place.

Finished this a few weeks back and forgot to post it here. It is a silent guitar made out of solid redwood. It was all hand carved and done with a minimum of power tools. A drill press was the only power tool used to drill the holes for the tuners. It is a start for me. so we'll see....
