A friend brought me his brother's guitar, an applause that has been underwater for a while. There are a bunch of cracks etc... nothing that can't be glued, but, the neck is a major problem. It looks to be an aluminum neck with a graphite coating and it has chunks out of it on about 3/4 of the neck. I tried an experiment with some black superglue to fill in the chunks and then scraped and sanded them level. But!!! What can I use to re-coat the fret board? I haven't been able to find any kind of a spray on graphite coating and I don't think black lacquer paint will work.. Anyone have any ideas on this and yes I know its an "Ovation" but his brother has passed and it has a special meaning to him.

    Thanks,
    Gary
