Oh, come on! Not a crappy-reliced-POS-junkyard-wood-Tele?
    I'm in shock.

That burl of yours looks really neat, I'm really looking forward to see what magic you can create out of it.

I hate teles. I hate everything about them...from the look, to the sound, to the slobbering rednecks droning on with them in the endless stream country cover bands that infest every musical venue around here.

And yet...I feel like I need to build one. Of course, it will not look anything like the fender abominations.

    Anyway...proceed.

I have built a few using cherry . It works great . Even did a hardtail Strat with cherry .
Don't neglect it for a neck wood . I use a tung oil base with a very thin satin poly on top . It ends up with a very silky feel . I love it .
Planning on one with a CS69 Strat neck pup .
    Best of both worlds .
    Simple and extremely versatile .

John 5 might disagree with you as well as Keith Richard . Terry Kath may as well if he were still alive .
There are more , but I will limit it to these three .
Abomination is a very strong reference .
Maybe this will help you feel some love for them .

I don't know who John 5 and Terry Kath are....and I'm not a fan of the Rolling Stones. So...yeah, abominations they remain.

That cherry looks great - I love cherry :) Never liked the fact that it burns so easily with power tools but beautiful instrument wood. I might just go and buy some this weekend and throw together an oil finished tele after seeing those Otter lol

Ha ha... I knew after i saw your post at MLP that it was already a done deal, you can try but eventually most everyone ends up loving the Tele, I once hated the look and a lot of the sound... now it's different - you can always do your own thing with a Tele...

Everybody has to build one......but that doesn't mean you have to play it, sheesh.
