Just sold my first guitar yesterday. The price was ridiculous, but the guitar has been played and it was a privat sale. Covered my expenses with it though. Also now I'm entitled to build a new one :)

fuck me thats gorgeous. And congrats on the sale! its a great feeling isnt it? simultaneously sad when you have to part with it.

EDIT: oh and i also got the tone zone p90 for my redwood guitar i built myself and its by far my favorite pickup ever. its got amazing cleans and is the most dynamic, angriest , pissed off humbucker i've ever played.

here's a clip. thanks for the recommendation

Guess it's time for an update. Since there are multible projects ahead the next time is going to be crazy :) Here's what's currently up in my shop.

Last coats of clear are sprayed. Now I wait for it to cure and have it polished.
The neck also has a thin coat on, that I'll sand satin.

Now if that ain't a crisp edge – what is?

Also this refinish and reshaping takes shape.

And finally I managed to put my hands on some black limba.
Yeah, I know ... you've seen better pieces. But hey! ... It was hard to find.

Has anyone ever installed a Schaller Hannes Piezo???

Man that's some serious issue

The wire on the bottom makes it really hard to measure. Too bad the dimension sheet on their website, the dimensions on a small sheet of plastic and the dimensions I measure all differ.

Not to forget that the whole system doesn't allow for much play

I can see you're going a little thick on the finish, with the way it pools up around the string through holes. What is your process like?

The roundabout process went like: I sanded, brought the guitar to a buddies relative (works as a painter who indeed put's too much finish [acrylic] on), I level sanded most of it out, brought the guitar ..., levelsand ... and so on. A real PITA that seems to never end.

Yeah! I know it's too thick. That's anoying since I wouldn't have done it that way If I had done it. Level sanded it though – the pics have been taken after the last coats.

If I (or we / the customer) had chosen an oil finish this thing would be done already. Still some work to do :/

I fitted the hannes piezo on my first build (working on my second at the moment). I had to make a few templates to fit it and I don't have a pillar drill with enough throat so it was very fiddly but well worth it. As it's my first build I don't really know how hard it was as I have nothing to compare it to but getting the six little wires in place was a real pain. I connected it to a hexpander and it works great. It's got to be the most comfortable bridge I've played. I found the little clear template that it came with really helpfull. There are some pics on my build thread here

I got asked how my "template" works, well ... pretty unspectacular.
The template is "just" a way to mark the exact fret positions without having to print and/or glue a plan.
One just has to run a knife or a small pencil along the slots (on the treble side). They're that wide so you have better access.

Small update ... the body is polished and I just finished the fretjob on this one ... Some more work on the neck (rubbing down the backside to a satin finish) and this one might be completed by the end of the upcoming week (hopefully). I'm shielding the control cavity right now. More pics later.
