Hey folks!

I have a Strat style guitar that I want to rewire with Wilkinson hot rail humbuckers. The way I want to wire it is to have a volume pot for each pickup, and a single pot to control the tone for all three pickups. Additionally, I want to do away with the 5-way switch altogether, and put 3 small toggle switches in it's place - an on/off switch for each of the 3 pickups so that any 1, 2, or all 3 of the pickups can be on or off at any time. Can anyone point me to a diagram showing how this should be wired? Thanks!

Here are the 3 pickups:

I don't have a diagram, but just think of it as 3 of the same circuits in parallel + one master tone.

Which means: 3x(Pickup -> volume -> toggle -> to master tone) -> output

Of course, one wire of the pickup goes to GND (ground)
The volume pot has one leg going to GND
The master tone has one leg attached to a capacitor going to GND
The output has one connection to GND

Maybe this description is confusing. But you might use a "one pickup" wiring diagram, except you add a on/off toggle in the signal path. You repeat the wiring for the other pickups. And then run all 3 through the master tone and to the output.

look up a Fender Jazz bass circuit and just add in a 3rdvolume pot and viola! you have exactly what your asking for.

and if it was ME.. I would make all 3 volume pots push pulls so I could access some very cool single coil options on those rail buckers..

Hmmmm…would you need the toggle switches at all if you can simply turn the volume all the way down? Might offer some really interesting pickup blending options as well.
