    Hello everybody,

I joined the forum this morning. I am from Paris, France. I am an amateur luthier and I am learning how to build guitars. This is not an easy task.

I have a question. I recently bought some Brazilian mahogamy which is very dark. The seller called this wood "certao". Does anyone know the latin name of this wood. May be it is just a local common name.

    Thanking you in advance.

    Welcome!

No idea what wood that might be, but sertão means 'jungle' in Portuguese.
It's also one of the subregions of Northeast Brazil.
Maybe the wood is from that subregion?
