Dotson Mark I Original Design

    Times like this are when you get creative. "Yeah, I listened to the wood and decided a mahogany neck was what it needed tonally"

    "Yeah, I thought I'd try a new location for the switch. It's not like there was a huge dent I had to cover up or anything"

    "I totally meant to relic this"

    As long as everyone thinks it was on purpose you're good :thumb:

    Started on the new neck. This time I switched the order of routing for the Spoke nut Truss Rod. I started with the 3/8ths shaft of the spoke nut first

    then the pocket that the spoke nut sits in

    and finally the channel for the rods to sit in like so

    and here's what the fretboard looks like on top

    I used a very simple setup to cut the taper for the fretboard. Just marked a line on each end of the board and carpet taped it down to an mdf sled that butts against the tablesaw fence

    Drilling the holes for the fret markers

    Got the fretboard glued to the neck

    Installed the fret markers and sanded them flush and cut the frets to rough length

    Very original - that headstock could double as an assault weapon.

    My father in law has a Jeep and she thinks its the greatest thing, so yeah, she loves having her own pink one.
