Hi guys,
I already made a thread about a specific question for this project, but I still want to share some pics of the build progress. It's my first bass, ideas and comments are always appreciated.
This is going to be a Billy Bo inspired bass guitar. Not aiming for a copy of the Gretsch Jupiter Thunderbird bass, as it will have a long scale (34 inch) and a slightly different headstock shape. Te neck is laminated mahogany, body is mahogany with a maple top, fretboard Ziricote.
Body without top, some wheight relief holes. The neck pocket is already routed before the top is glued on, because the tenon will slide underneath the top.
Reinforced headstock transition
Pegholes drilled (17mm). That removed a scary amount of wood from the headstock, I hope it will still be strong enough.
quickly put together. Looks like a bass. The neck will be glued in after the maple top is applied.
