Secksie pickups man. I think I'm going to have to dip my toes into bass pickup making soon.

Very nice pickups! Aaron kills it!

For my next personal upcoming build I plan to have some custom multiscale humbuckers made from top offcuts (Bubinga) as well. Found someone who will do it for me.

Its been quiet lately because ive been busy sending out all my medical residency applications. I need all the good vibes i can get to get an interview guys. hopefully somoene out there wants someone with lackluster scores and a great CV. Two rejections so far and a shit ton more to go.

On the guitar front, Its all forward from here. I've glued the head scarf pieces and glued them to the headstock angle. I used the microplane to shave down the top of the scarf and then used a plane to level it with the fretboard. doing it this way prevents me from having to plane the entire length of the neck. instead i leave the headstock piece a bit proud over the angle break of the neck wood. then shave down from there. I wrote a tutorial on my blog about it titled "the way i scarf"

    Anyways PICS!!

I had glued these body blanks for the next set of builds, the special series. Flamed ebony topped with Limba back, Flamed Bastogne Walnut top with Limba back, and Quilted maple carved top (maybe) with genuine mahogany back.

    Question:
How thick is that top? I'm gearing up for my next build and the curly maple I have for the top is too narrow for the full width of the guitar. I'm going to be carving bevels on both the upper and lower bouts, hoping to get the angle right to achieve something similar to what you have here.

this ones done and sounds glorious. I went with a simple push pull to select between neck and bridge. No tone and no selector. my buddy jon will hate it when he demos it lol haaha. anyways pickups are dimarzio titan bridge and gravity storm neck. Gotta say Nick at axe palace was right, the gravity storm is pretty boring. not that its a bad thing, its very neutral and doesnt really add much or color the guitars tone. the bridge is bright and spanky. this one has a very nice resonance and you can feel it when you play and dig in.

I made a sound clip of me just jamming into soundcloud through my interface, switching from neck to bridge

Nice work. The darker one above is probably my favorite looking one you've build yet. waiting to see how that one turns out.

Really nice one Alex!! Chrome and black looks awesome ... you'll probably like my headless build ;)

One drawback though ... the jack hole that looks like you did it after finishing?

Keep up your nice work! The build with binding will turn out awesome I know!
