The new Slayer song is really terrible.

I've been spinning this album quite a bit. I love post rock/metal, and this is one of the nicest mixes in the genre that I've heard in a while:

    Earthrise

Excellent song to start off the discussion! I can't tell you how many times I've worked in the shop late at night listening to that brilliant album. I saw them live in Philly recently and for the encore they played pretty much all of scenes from a memory!

I used to like Dream Theater, but Labrie's voice started getting on my nerves after Six Degrees, and now I can't even listen to the old stuff, he's so whiney...

Geddy is high pitched but decidedly not whiney! Also, high pitched doesn't bother me, I listen to King Diamond and Sanctuary! It's Labrie's tone, he sounds like he's moments away from crying at all times.

I hear you on that, Adam. I loved DT as a youth, but Labrie ruined it for me later. Amazing band...if they'd just give that guy the boot, they'd rule.

Not that it matters anymore though...Kevin Moore is out, Mike Portnoy is out, I've lost interest. Metropolis II was the last album I bought of theirs.

Man, the latest DT album is quite good. Kevin Moore and Mike Portnoy were definitely great, but Mike Mangini and Jordan Rudess are amazing players.

I'm not a big fan of LaBrie or Geddy. They both ruin their respective bands in certain ways. For me, Geddy is more unpleasant than LaBrie.

I'm not sure if these guys are well known outside of Canada...but they're badass. Really good song this one.

I listen to a lot of classical music. Also a fan of light Jazz, Blues and Bluegrass. I also like Irish & Celtic music, harp, and Classical Crossover. My favorite MP3 mix has The Gothard Sisters, Kenny G, Celtic Ladies, Jackie Evancho, Camille & Kennerly - The Harp Twins, and some O'Carolan harp music. I just put the MP3 on shuffle and let it play. :D
