    Just watched a video of Chet Atkins playing the Orange Blossom Special on the Mike Douglas Show and Chet was tap playing his guitar .
    I believe that this took place long before that Van Halen guy is given credit for creating this way of playing . :rofl:
    My understanding is that Chet was playing this way when Van Halen was in diapers .
    Guess there really is nothing new after all .

    You should look up Dave Bunker and his Duo-Lectar guitar, dude was doing some crazy stuff in the 50's.

    Tapping has been a traditional part of Hungarian folk music for centuries. It's been used in the US since the early 1930s.
