Didn't know this is going to be a 10 string (neck width ) Nice work so far!
Haha maybe I should have saved this neck blank for a bigger guitar
Nice Looks Good So Far Yes Sir!!
Hey no ears with that setup
Nice looking Chrome Block Plane Too!!
I'm breathing life back into a hundred year old Stanley currently
It'll never be that Purdy but SHARP & True..
Thanks! I like restoring old planes too
Old Planes are Very Cool, If they could only talk..
I made up a wedge to sharpen the irons at a perfect angle..
These are some of the ones I need to repair, They were all Great Grandpaw Gatterer's..
I finished the block plane but didn't paint it but did true it up on the three sides..
Very nice! I've only done a couple small block planes so far, nothing special like yours.
I just got the smallest metal block plane refurbed without painting or polishing, just trued the three edges with P230 & got the blade sharp enough to cut you if you look at it wrong
Didn't mean to hijack your thread either..
Makes me wanna cut up those 100 year old mahogany 4x4s & glue them up into something useable, They are rift sawn but I can see several guitars/necks coming from them if laminated properly..
I don't feel hijacked, it's nice to talk about stuff between my infrequent updates
Big post today! I decided to make a stacked heel with yet another purpleheart laminate.
Sawing apart the excess.
If it weren't for this junk along the edges, I'd have used this blank for something much wider.
Cutting and gluing some 1/8" purpleheart
The whole stack
Next, there was a lot of cutting and routing and so forth, but I got absorbed in my work, so pics didn't happen. This pile of dust and scrap happened, though.
So that's it for now. I might try to cut the neck pocket over the weekend, we shall see.
Thanks for checking it out!
I think I showed this before but it gives something to strive for..
Yours is gonna look great when you get it rasped into shape BTW..
I like it a lot!!
Ryan Scott Guitar Works Custom 32" Scale Bass Neck Scarf Joint
Flamed Maple & Purple Heart
I played this bass & you'd swear it was an Alembic Spoiler
Just felt so damn good in your hands & sounded even better..
Got a box! My pre-slotted katalox board has arrived. 26" scale, 12" radius. I'm hoping to glue it up and trim it over the weekend. After that, I'll be waiting on fretwire and inlay materials.
Thanks for taking a look!
Firstly, apologies for the necrobump, but whatever came of this build? Always enjoyed your work
