Old Planes are Very Cool, If they could only talk..
I made up a wedge to sharpen the irons at a perfect angle..
These are some of the ones I need to repair, They were all Great Grandpaw Gatterer's..
I finished the block plane but didn't paint it but did true it up on the three sides..

Very nice! I've only done a couple small block planes so far, nothing special like yours.

I just got the smallest metal block plane refurbed without painting or polishing, just trued the three edges with P230 & got the blade sharp enough to cut you if you look at it wrong
Didn't mean to hijack your thread either..

Makes me wanna cut up those 100 year old mahogany 4x4s & glue them up into something useable, They are rift sawn but I can see several guitars/necks coming from them if laminated properly..

Big post today! I decided to make a stacked heel with yet another purpleheart laminate.

    Sawing apart the excess.

If it weren't for this junk along the edges, I'd have used this blank for something much wider.

    The whole stack

Next, there was a lot of cutting and routing and so forth, but I got absorbed in my work, so pics didn't happen. This pile of dust and scrap happened, though.

    Results!

So that's it for now. I might try to cut the neck pocket over the weekend, we shall see.

    Thanks for checking it out!

Got a box! My pre-slotted katalox board has arrived. 26" scale, 12" radius. I'm hoping to glue it up and trim it over the weekend. After that, I'll be waiting on fretwire and inlay materials.
