Can't follow you on this ^^ what do you mean? What do you mean with shoulderless?

Haha! I watched my thumb playing and it does move different than the endurneck flat spot as well. I think the neck profile is meant to have your thumb rest on the upper angled side when playing high frets though. At least that's what I saw in a video recently.

He means a soft C profile basically.

Routed the pickup cavities last weekend. That's pretty much it for the body. Time to start working on the bevels, neckprofile and all the details. Oh, and I gotta chop the neck heel of course.

Smoke was starting to pour from my ears looking at that heel. I couldn't figure out for the life of me what you were doing there.

Maybe another cup of coffee wakes me up properly... :io:

I shaped all the body contours on front and backside. That's enough for now. Also I had to recess the single bridges.

The body is almost done. Will go on with the neckprofile now ...

I'm super late to the party, but this is amazeballs. Love the bevelling on the body. Your fret board save was brilliant too.

Can't wait to see it done :D

I've been watching Knarbz go for a year and a half now, and he has never failed to amaze me. My cleanliness of work is a direct result of watching builders like this guy here. Take notes, Yeti. Knarbz is a BOSS.

Thank you :) Yeah, I'm glad I could gain experience and save the work and components.

Thank you Renk! Means a lot coming from you!

I worked on the neckpofile the last two saturday forenoons. As always I work with paper templates of neck cross sections. This time it seemed to went well straighaway - I always work along the whole neck at once and checking the profile at the 1st and 12th fret looked perfekt. The pics are taken right after rasping - no sanding.

Than I went on with the test assembly. I'm not sure how others do it, but I have always test mounted all components before finish sanding and finishing to make sure everything works out right, is aligned, has the right depth/size or feels right. I like the bevel at the body end, but I will have to make it some concave or steeper in order to give the fingers some more room when tuning. Also I have to recess the bridges just a tad more. I don't like the ABM singles for their less room for height-adjustment.

    Thanks Marcus!

I'll do a simple oil finish. I compared two different products - Danish Oil and an Oil from the hardware store. They look quite the same, but the Danish feels better to me. So I'll through some of that on ;)

    Beautiful work, Knarb.

And on that note, I think I shall hang up my tools.
