I am currently in the middle of repainting the back of a black Gibson SG 70's Tribute. Gibson told me that the finish is Satin but I do not believe Gibson used a clear coat on these guitars. I purchased Black Gloss and Satin clear from ReRanch and have applied three coats of the color. My question is clear or no clear?? The existing finish is pretty thin. I think spraying the clear Satin might be a bad idea. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Spray it some scrap wood and compare it to the guitar.
