Is there a secret to making one of those dust masks work with a 6"+ beard? or am i just screwed?

i've been working on sanding an old table for 2-3 days and have been wearing a dust mask the whole time but my beard is getting in the way and leaving a gap. i've been hacking up brown crap and caughing all day.

dunno wtf to do. i dont think i could bring myself to take too much off the beard. thinking about buying a dust collection system but im not sure if that would help enough or not.

Don't breathe through the gaps . Had to do that .
You may want to try a surgical type mask .

If your beard is not filtering dust by itself, you have to grow it some more. :D

    More beard.

I'm wondering why our Finnish mascot Poro doesn't grow one. ;)

i'd like one of those dust helmets like tkojams posted but i think ill have to get alot more into woodworking before i can justify biting the bullet. going to try a new brand of mask that seems more rigid and if that doesnt work ill try a bandana i guess

i actually found some that work last night. a more expensive brand with 2 beefed up bands works like a charm.
